MANILA, Philippines – Princess Marcial, wife of Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial, will take her husband to court as she accused the Olympic medalist of abuse, infidelity, and manipulative behavior.
In a Facebook post on Friday, January 10, Princess said she filed a case against Eumir following what she described as a “sickening love affair.”
Recounting an earlier instance of infidelity, Princess and her sister caught Eumir in a Pasay condominium with a woman named Jessa Santos in October last year, just a few months after the boxer bowed out early in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Eumir — who won a bronze in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 — ended up getting detained for five days, as well as the mistress. But Princess said he was freed as she signed an affidavit of desistance to withdraw the complaint, hoping that they can work on their marriage.
“Despite some of my family’s strong disapproval, I still gave Eumir multiple chances to make amends with our marriage, putting into consideration all that we have gone through and the difficult things we have survived as a couple,” she wrote in a now viral post.
“As his wife, I felt then that I still owe Eumir the responsibility to forgive him,” said Princess, who was also a former national boxing champion.
However, the situation only got worse from there, as Princess revealed that Eumir and his mistress moved back to Zamboanga, the Olympian’s home province, to build a house using the savings from their joint bank account.
“Currently, I’ve managed to maintain some correspondence with some of our mutual and trusted friends in Zamboanga City where they alluded that Eumir and his mistress have decided to live together,” she wrote.
“Apparently, he withdrew all our savings and used the money to construct a house for him and his mistress in Zamboanga. I also have friends who have personally seen them together.”
Princess also recounted threats from Eumir, including an instance in which the boxer vowed to not let his wife get anything from their separation.
“I had to sever all sources of communication with him after all the trauma, manipulation, emotional stress, physical abuse, and psychological torment that I had to endure,” she added.
Princess did not give much details about the case, but she said the public post was meant more to ensure her safety as the case heads to court.
“A bigger part of the reason why I’m making this information public is because I’m seriously concerned about my safety, the safety of my family, and the potential witnesses of this case against Eumir,” she said.
“It is not a secret that Eumir, being a well-recognized athlete, has also gained support and protection from his connections who are very much capable of influencing the outcome of this case,” she added.
The two tied the knot in 2021, the year when the boxer won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, in a grand ceremony that included personalities such as Manny Pacquiao and other politicians.
Before the wedding, Princess and Eumir were together for nine years.
A Cagayan de Oro native, Princess is the daughter of former Cagayan de Oro boxing trainer and international referee Reynaldo Galarpe, and niece of amateur Asian boxing gold medalist Roberto Jalnaiz.
In the 2024 Paris Games, Eumir lost his opening bout in the men’s light heavyweight category, bidding goodbye to a potential second Olympic medal.
There, Princess was seen consoling the fighter, who turned emotional following the shock exit.
