MANILA, Philippines – Manila is playing host to the 2025 Dialogue on ASEAN Maritime Security from Wednesday to Friday, May 21 to 23.
The event “brings together Southeast Asia’s foreign policy specialists, subject-matter experts, government officials, and next-generation leaders to probe opportunities for and obstacles to collective efforts on advancing a free, open, secure, and rules-based maritime order in the region.”
According to organizers, the dialogue is meant to “identify ways [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] members can work together to overcome issues that hinder cooperation on issues of shared concern, to re-converge each other’s interests in a rules-based regional order, and to reinforce efforts that identify, deter, and defeat the sources of instability and insecurity in Southeast Asian waters.”
