MANILA, Philippines – People of the ton, are you ready for Benedict’s love story?
Netflix announced that Bridgerton’s season four has officially begun production by sharing a first-look photos of its lead cast Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha. The two will star in the series as Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek, respectively.
Based on An Offer From a Gentleman, the third book in the Bridgerton novel series by Julia Quinn, Sophie is a housemaid who disguises herself at a masquerade ball where she meets Benedict.
“Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down. That is, until he encounters a captivating lady in silver at his mother’s masquerade ball,” Shondaland said about the upcoming fourth season.
When asked about what to expect from Benedict and Sophie in Bridgerton’s season four, Luke told Shondaland: “ I think the main thing we can expect is a really nice mix of fairy tale and reality. We’ve got this fairy-tale love story, yes, but it’s also got the Bridgerton element of trying to tether to some sort of reality as well.”
Bridgerton will also introduce three new cast members for the fourth season: Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun, Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li. Lady Araminta is Sophie’s employer while Rosamund and Posy are Lady Araminta’s daughters.
The fourth season will also have eight episodes, with Jess Brownell as the showrunner and will be executive produced by Brownell, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.
Bridgerton is a romantic, cheeky series set during the Regency Period in London that focuses on a sibling of the Bridgerton family.
The first season, released in December 2020, focused on Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the family, and her relationship with Simon Bassett. Meanwhile, the second season, which premiered in March 2021, followed eldest son Anthony Bridgerton in his search for a wife, which he found in Kate Sharma. The third season, which premiered in May, revolved around Colin Bridgerton, the third son of the family, falling in love with longtime friend Penelope Featherington.
